What You Need To Know Before You Move To The French Riviera

Want To Live A Relaxed Life In The French Riviera? Here’s What You Need To Know Before You Move. A life in the French Riviera – or Cote D’Azur – is dreamlike: year-round sunshine, a thriving culture, and breath-taking scenery. It’s one of the top destinations to move to, so much so that the French Riviera hosts around 80,000 foreign residents. These residents claim that Cote D’Azur allows them to enjoy an escape from urbanism.

If you’re one of the people who are planning to move to the French Riviera, there are tons of how-to guides online that offer step-by-step instructions on how to buy a property in the area, paying taxes necessary for the move, and finding a job once you’ve settled in. But what about the daily life that you’ll be having once you’re finally in Cote D’Azur, though? What are some adjustments that you have to make? Let’s take a look.

Days Filled with Warmth and Sunshine

One of the first things that you need to take note of when moving to the French Riviera is the climate. Cote D’Azur is a place of sunshine. As a matter of fact, it gets around 300 days of sunshine a year, so it follows that the temperature here is on the warmer side. Taking this into consideration, you need to make sure that you are prepared to make this adjustment, especially if you’re one who comes from a city with a cooler climate. Most of your activities might involve lounging on beach fronts and soaking up the sun, so make sure to wear clothes that let your skin breathe. You can also make the most out of the warm weather by visiting the vibrant outdoor markets in the area and tasting local delicacies.

Love the Language

Integrating yourself into the Cote D’Azur culture becomes easier when you speak the local language. It allows you to seamlessly blend with locals, thus making sure that you become a fragment of the community. You might think that French is basically the main language spoken in the French Riviera, and in a way, you’d be right. However, it would be more precise for you to learn Nissart, which is a regional variety of the Occitan language. This language is specific to the French Riviera region and has some distinct differences from French. Of course, as noted earlier, Cote D’Azur also has thousands of immigrants, and millions also flock to the country as visitors, so there is also no shortage of those who can speak English.

Moving Around

If you want to take in as much of what Cote D’Azur has to offer, you’d be glad to know that getting around the area is also relatively easy. Cote D’Azur offers a full network of public transportation, which includes buses, trains, and tramways. These modes of transportation operate on time and will get you around the city and to neighboring areas, too. Car parks are also available if you have a car or are renting one. As such, you don’t have to worry about going from one place to another once you move here since doing so would be relatively easy.

Moving to a new city or country, in general, can be a daunting experience. However, with all that Cote D’Azur can offer, transitioning to a relaxing life becomes easier.
