The scent of the South of France

When I ride my motorcycle on the sea road between Antibes and Nice, there always comes a moment that I look forward to every time. Sometimes I forget; then I am sunk too deep into my helmet and thoughts and am pleasantly surprised. I then think: ‘Oh yes, how wonderful!’ and then take a deep breath through my nose.

It is the smell of freshly grilled sirloin steaks with a charcoal edge. This aroma penetrates my olfactory organ by road and immediately makes my mouth water. Now I’m not going to make a culinary section of this, but you really have to experience that smell experience; it is right on the sea road towards Nice, at the level of the port of Saint Laurent du Var. Open the car windows and pass the harbor around 12:00. The gourmands among us immediately start looking for a parking space, close to the more than 75 restaurants.

A French nose

Having a good nose for beautiful things is of course something typically French; wine connoisseurs smell the perfect bouquet and fragrance experts at perfume houses have followed a special course called The Nose (Le Nez). Whoever completes this school can distinguish refined nuances in order to compose an original perfume.

You can also have a nose for new construction. My nose has been an Amsterdam upturned nose for years, but I can still track down French new construction projects very well with it. This gift, of course, did not come by chance.

No, I learned that you first have to sniff around with accountants. And show your nose to geographers who, even before anything is written down on paper, quietly explore the possibilities. After all, not every vacant lot is suitable for a beautiful residence. But if they don’t turn up their noses at it, the architect can start with the plans for new construction.

New construction offer

What also makes my nose happy is the smell of a new home. The moment of key transfer usually takes place in the house itself, where there is still a hint of fresh concrete and wall paint. Often someone is still painting the last plinths so that the building really smells like new. In fact, a can of oil paint is for new construction what an apple pie is for existing construction; the apartment smells good, it is clean and you are the very first occupant. That also makes buying new construction a pleasant experience.

If you buy a new apartment or a new villa in the South of France, you can indicate before construction starts which doors or walls can remain. And how many extra sockets and light points do you want? In this way you can turn a standard home into something special; your own cream of the crop, as it were.

With your nose in the butter

Those looking for a new-built apartment close to a bakery, the sea, with a swimming pool, and affordable will not immediately find something suitable online. French project developers do not always advertise new construction because sales almost happen automatically. A sign on the gate and the neighborhood is already pouring in; as if they could smell the news!

Fortunately, we can offer you all 165 active new construction projects in the South of France. That is more than 1800 apartments and villas, in locations that are worthwhile.

If you want to fall into the butter with your nose, please contact us for a customized selection of new construction. In the end, life is like a nose; you have to get out what’s in it.
