It’s snowing, it’s snowing in the French Alps! For eight days and so we take the heavy rain fall and thunderstorms for granted. When snow is already on the ground, that means the winter season can officially start in two weeks. And everyone looks forward to that: to exchange the long summer months with a few beautiful ski months under a blue sky.

Throughout all that beautiful summer and autumn weather we would almost forget that it’s almost Christmas! The Xmas street lighting is everywhere, but the feeling is not yet felt like in the Netherlands, where you already hear Christmas songs in shops and on the radio since October. During the rain showers, we do drink a cozy Christmas tea with a almond bar from the HEMA in the CAP 3000 so it feels a bit like a Dutch October Xmas feeling. Now that I think about it, actually we don’t have any Christmas songs on the French radio. Would that have to do with the separation between religion and the state?
At least, this separation is not on the streets; this week, 15 jihadists got arrested in Menton, Nice and Cagnes sur Mer. They are suspected of preparing a terrorist attack and disappeared in gendarmerie buses to a dark prison in Paris. We will never hear from them again, nor the media.
The state of emergency in France has ended and in return, the police have far-reaching powers to ensure security for its residents. Everybody on the Côte d’Azur is excited about the upcoming Red Bull Air Race in Cannes. From 20 to 22 April, this race will take place at a height of 25 meters above sea level with small planes between Port Canto and the heliport. More than 100,000 spectators are expected.
A cool action by the municipality of Cannes, which once again shows that city marketing is high on the agenda. Still, the most beautiful news this week was for all ladies with a nice expensive handbag. In Beausoleil, the first Handbag Clinic opened. Here you can clean your handbag, lubricate the handles and massage the creaking leather. Take your tired handbag with you to South France next time and spoil her. The handbag treatments start from 15 euros.
