The beaches of Theoule sur Mer are without doubt the most beautiful of the French Riviera. This is due to the different heights; the slightly rising hills of Cannes and the foothills of the Esterel mountains provide rugged coves on the coast with rocky peaks. The red / ocher stone in combination with the azure sea, is simply beautiful to see. Discover another side of the Riviera; put your car on the side of the road and descend to the beautiful beaches of Theoule sur Mer.
The beaches are among the bend of Plage du Maurin northeast of Theoule sur Mer, along the crown jewel, Plage de l’Aiguille, the rugged Plage Gardanne and on to the Plage de la Figueirette in the south. A total of seven public beaches and five beach restaurants. Some beaches are sandy and all overlook the Golfe de la Napoule overlooking Cannes and the Iles de Lerins. The offshore waters are marked with buoys to indicate “Sentier de Découverte”. Here marine life for snorkelers is extra nice!
The most beautiful beach in Theoule sur Mer is the Plage de l’Aiguille at the Pointe de l’Aiguille, part of the Parc de l’Aiguille, a regional park that extends to the red cliffs covered with shrubs. The sandy beach is widest with a particularly intriguing rock formation at the end here.
How to get there?
Theoule sur Mer is easily accessible by train from Nice or Cannes. The train stops at the line TER Nice – Cannes – Theoule – St Raphael – Les Arcs.
From Cannes bus stops 620 at Theoule sur Mer station, just before Le Trayas on the Plage du Vallon de l’Autel. There is a special walkway along the coast; lined with flowers and Mediterranean plants that winds a mile from Plage du Vallon de l’autel to the Plage de l’Aiguille. The road is called the Promenade Pradayrol, and is the easiest and most comfortable way to get to the beaches, access there is parking at the Plage du Vallon de l’Autel. A more robust approach is to drive along Theoule on the Boulevard de la Corniche d’Or to the entrance of the Parc de l’Aiguille, where a path leads to the Plage de l’Aiguille and de Gardanne. There is free parking along the side of the road.
